Abstract:
Job satisfaction is one’s feeling towards one’s job. If the employees expectations are
fulfilled, the employees get higher than what he/ she feels satisfied. If the job satisfaction
increases, the chance of staffs staying with the organization for a longer period of time is
high. Job satisfaction has a direct link to the employee turnover. Based on the results of the
pilot survey, researcher identified that the ABC Company was suffering from high
employee turnover at the officer level category. Also this has resulted a high cost of
production and time wastage for the company.
The general purpose is to examine the impact of job satisfaction to employee turnover in
officer level category employees at ABC Company in Colombo.
Employee turnover was the dependent variable of this study. Job satisfaction is arguably
the most important variable in employee turnover. Employee performance, effectiveness,
and productivity are all impacted by job satisfaction, which also reduces turnover and
increases retention. On the other hand, poor levels of job satisfaction have a detrimental
impact on employees' performances and lead to their exit. The job satisfaction was selected
as independent variables and under that salary package and benefits, work environment,
supervisor relationship were identified. The working environment is one of the important
variable which influence the level of satisfaction of employees and also productivity of the
employees is determined mostly by the environment in which they work. It is important
note that if there is lack of positive interaction it will result in low satisfaction of their job.
Similarly with better supervisor relationship the intention of employees to leave will be
reduced. And four hypotheses were developed to test this study. Mixed methodology was
used in this research study. Simple random sampling was used and 85% of officer level
category staffs of ABC Company were selected as the sample size. The research outcome
statistically proved that there is a strong positive relationship between job satisfaction and
high employee turnover.
