A happier, more productive and more efficient workforce is the end outcome. It helps the staff to adapt to their tasks more rapidly whilst also encouraging skill development and career growth. For an industry that relies on services, like telecoms, this is even more important. Because contemporary technology is advancing the sector every day. Training has a substantial favorable impact on the performance of the whole company because it enables staff to adapt to new technology advancements and successfully engage with clients whilst fostering trust and integrity. As a result, the researcher of the present study believed that it would be wise to focus the study on a telecom company because it was reported that customer care staff employee performance at ABC company is not at a satisfactory level and employees revealed that lack of training is the cause. Hence, the author wanted to unravel the reasons for their underperformance. Thus, the primary objective of this research is to determine the effect of training and development on worker performance at ABC telecommunication corporation in Sri Lanka. While employee performance serves as the dependent variable in this study, training and development serve as the independent variables. Training has been further sub categorized into on the job training, off the job training, whilst development has been further sub divided into personnel development, career development for the ease of analysis. Within the quantitative research methodology, a questionnaire survey was utilized as the study instrument. As seen by the results, employee performance is significantly influenced by training and development that are offered to them. Out of all, it was found that onthe-job training had the biggest effect on employee performance, while personnel development, off the job training and career development were found to have some level of influence on employee performance consecutively. Thus, it was suggested that to offer on the job training for its staff more while prioritizing of personal-focused staff development initiatives. en_US
