Abstract:
Through this study, the factors affecting the development of the secondary leadership of non
governmental organizations in Sri Lanka are studied.
Investigates factors influencing secondary leadership using a mixed-methods approach with
employee surveys in 292 active and inactive NGOs. In particular, it examines the impact of
centralization of power, succession planning, and leadership training and development
opportunities on secondary leadership development. Through this study, it was observed that the
three factors of centralization of power, succession planning and leadership training showed a
significant positive relationship with secondary leadership development. As all three factors
positively affect secondary leadership development, appropriate employees who display
leadership characteristics provide recommendations for practical tasks needed to strengthen
secondary leadership through independent decision-making, decentralization of power, and
training programs.
