Abstract:
As part of my qualification in CQHRM, I conducted this research. The objective of this
research is to identify the impact of training and development, training methods and
management support on employee performance in a remote environment. Due to the recent
outbreak of Covid 19 and the sudden adoption of remote work across the globe and Sri Lanka,
there is a need to understand that remote work is a good option. This research looks into
factors like training and development, managerial support and communication methods
specifically. The purpose of this research is to prove that remote work is a good and reliable
option and that common factors that affect physical work also affect remote work. Moreover,
this research aims to prove that if necessary steps are taken employees can work effectively
despite the mode. This research looks into the digital marketing industry specifically. This
study's research approach is qualitative and quantitative, and the sample is drawn using
convenience and snowball sampling methodology. In this research, survey approach,
observation, focus group sessions/interviews ( Mixed method ) were used to obtain data.
According to the data analysis findings, training and development has the highest influence
over employee performance and that communication methods have the second most priority
and management support taking the least priority. Despite the remote setting, all employees
are satisfied on a good scale as they are being provided with resources, they are comfortable
reaching out to managers, they are productive, overall increasing the employee performance
ultimately leading to business success. It is evident that top management should interact more,
provide more clear instructions while working online and provide clear and constructive
feedback so that employees can do better.
Although time was limited and the sample was of small number, findings revealed a positive
outcome as expected.
