Abstract:
Management of ABC (Pvt) Ltd currently using work from home practices due to the current
economic situation in Sri Lanka. Therefore, the management needed the researcher to identify a
what kind of impact that work from home and work life-balance have. The main objective of the
company was to adopt better work from home practices to improve work-life balance of
employees. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of Work from home on work-life
balance of ABC (Pvt) from the aspects of Work from home, work stress, work environment,
Flexible Working Arrangements, Perceived Organizational support, and work-life balance which
are the five variables of the study. Quantitative approach was applied when conducting the study.
For the quantitative approach the sample comprises of 101 employees who are working from home
and conducted among Executive level and Managerial Level Employees of ABC (Pvt) Ltd.
Stratified simple random sample technique was used and the analysis was carried out using SPSS.
Primary data collection method is used to collect data by distributing a questionnaire through emails. The findings of the quantitative approach indicated that the work environment, flexible
working arrangements, perceived organizational support have a significant positive relationship
on work-life balance. Work stress has a strong negative relationship with Work-life balance. Work
stress, flexible working arrangements, Perceived Organizational Support have impact on work-life
balance and there is no impact of working environment of work-life balance. The study indicated
that there is a significant positive impact of work from home on work-life balance among
employees of ABC. Furthermore, not limiting to a selected company and industry, the adoption of
effective work from home practices in other industries especially in sectors which are contributing
to the Sri Lankan economy and address the challenges of HR in other industries, especially those
sectors that make a noteworthy contribution to Sri Lankan economy can be recommended for
further studies.
