Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the procrastination and well-being of the
teachers in the government sector in the Elpitiya divisional secretariat of Galle district in Sri Lanka. This
quantitative study focuses on five dimensions of procrastination which are fear of failure, job mismatch,
dependence, difficulty in making decisions, and rebellion instead of control. The sample of study is 160 male and
female teachers in selected schools. Data was gathered from teachers in the government sector in the Elpitiya
divisional secretariat of Galle district in Sri Lanka for this study and analyzed using the SPSS data analyzing
package. Results reveal that procrastination makes a negative impact on the well-being of teachers and study
concludes that fear of failure, job mismatch, dependence, and difficulty in making decisions significantly and
negatively impact the well-being of teachers while rebel instead of control is removed from the study model. Five
hypotheses were accepted out of six hypotheses since H6 is rejected. Finally, several recommendations were
suggested at the end of the study.
