Abstract:
The main purpose of this research is to analyze about the impact of job stress on employee performance
of non-executives in a leading food manufacturing company. The specific objectives of this research are, to
examine the impact of job stress on employee performance, to identify the impact of organizational factors on
employee performance, to identify the impact of personal related factors on employee performance and to identify
the solution to overcome the job stress and enhance the employee performance. The design of casual research was
adopted to the carryout the data collection and due to the time limitation, proximity and the convenient
accessibility to the researcher simple random sampling was adopted to this research. Among the employees, 115
questionnaires were distributed randomly and out of these only 100 responses were received. The researcher was
prepared a questionnaire which was included 24 questionnaire items with the Likert Scale and was tested and
developed for the its validity and the reliability before the distribution of the questionnaire by the researcher. The
data was analyzed by using SPSS and to analyzed the data Reliability Statistics, Regression Analysis and Pearson
Correlation Coefficient analysis were used. The job stress was mainly divided inti two categories such as
organizational factors and personal related factors. Under the organizational factors was evaluated by using five
dimensions and they are, work overload, role ambiguity, negative relationships, long working hours and role
conflict. Personal related factors were evaluated by using three dimensions such as, work life conflicts, family
problems and tiredness. The findings of the research study were revealed that job stress has a negative significant
impact on employee performance B=0.035, (t=0.503, P<0.01***). Although, findings were indicated that
organizational and personal related factors have a negative significant impact to employee performance. Hence
the researcher has concluded that the increasing of the job stress would be highly reduced the performance of the
employees’ in all aspects. Therefore, it is very vital for managers to make sure the minimize role ambiguity, long
working hours, role conflicts & the work overload & give the clear job roles & provide proper communication
channels to identify the employees’ problem & solve those as soon as possible to enhance the employees’
performance.
