Abstract:
The study in concern is how important it is data analytics with Human Recourse Information System
(HRIS) to get proper and correct strategic decision for small and medium scale industries in Sri Lanka. The data
were gathered from a randomly selected sample of 90 HR departmental staff in the small and medium industry,
out of which only 60 had responded. Data collection was carried out by administrating a structured questionnaire
which consisted of 15 statements with 5 points scale. The findings of the study based on how HRIS would help
of identifying relationship of Competency Assessment, Succession planning, Performance Management strategic
level decision in the medium and small level enterprises. HR department staff demographic data analysis and
questionnaire statement feedback analysis had been done using excel through tables and pie charts. HR
department operators’ feedback on each independent variable and its impact on strategic decision making and the
correlation between each independent variable and strategic decision making were gauged using SPSS data
analysis. To measure the relationship between variables, a correlation analysis was done. As all variables other
than strategic decision making are not normally distributed, Spearman’s Test was conducted to assess the positive
relationships between each independent variable and employee retention. The researcher has also given some
valuable recommendations for the employers to deploy comprehensive HRIS system to achieve industry goals
with correct and timely strategic decision making.
