Abstract:
The aim of the paper is to assuage the challenges and opportunities that the Human Resources (HR)
fraternity faces as they implement and even try to come out of the Work from Home (WFH) scenario in the
Information Technology (IT) space in India, which engages more than five-million employees and the domestic
revenue is estimated at $49 billion with the export revenue estimated at $181 billion. Covid-19 and the ensuing
pandemic no doubt brought the world to a standstill, the IT sector continued with its service offering through
telecommuting and remote working. Benchmarks were set; but it also led to lot of issues. To ensure qualitative
information and inputs, the researchers have interviewed 3108 associates/employees of the IT sector in India and
a total of 368 HR associates through a semi-structured questionnaire which was shared online for a duration of
six-months. Hence, it will contribute to the literature in the domain as the Indian IT companies look to harmonize
the work environment with more ‘reluctant’ employees reporting into the workplace. The IT industry never gave
up during Covid-19 despite initial glitches. The findings will help the IT industry in general and HR professionals
to assuage the opportunity and ensure a mix of work opportunities since the employees want the same to continue.
The Researchers found that besides print and electronic reporting there was no much literature that could be seen
which was specific to the HR and IT business segment. The research will contribute to the IT and HR segment
of the industry.
