Abstract:
Entrepreneurship plays the inevitable role in eliminating the unemployment issue and to enhance the
economy of the nation as a whole. Therefore, the importance of determining the factors affecting on
entrepreneurial intention cannot be denied. This research study is carried out to analyze about the entrepreneurial
intention among management undergraduate students in state universities, Sri Lanka. Structured questionnaires
were issued within the sample of 150 respondents, using simple random sampling method. The conceptual
framework and hypotheses were developed through in-depth review of literature and findings derived by using
correlation and simple linear regression with version 20.0 of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).
The 16-item scale dimensions identified in this study were personal attitude, perceived educational support,
perceived relational support and perceived structural support. The results revealed that these factors highly impact
on entrepreneurial intention. It is found that “personal attitude” has emerged as the major predictor in determining
entrepreneurial intention. Moreover, the study confirmed intention towards entrepreneurship is higher for the
individuals who are having entrepreneurial background. Also, proved their findings in relation with the above
factors. The present study insights that policy makers’ task continues to the entrepreneurial phase as far they
should provide direction to entrepreneurial intention higher educational reforms among higher education
institutions relationship reinforcement, favorable structure and innovations to remain youngsters towards
entrepreneurship for a long time for the sustainability and growth of the nation.
