Abstract:
The current study intent to explore the impact of job insecurity on presenteeism among Sri Lankan
hospitality sector workers. Since the presenteeism is a key concern in the organizations, it is important to make
employees active in the workplace as they are the prime reason for the competitive existence of the organization.
Therefore, reducing presenteeism in hospitality sector is quite difficult considerably, since its leaded with
employees. However, previous studies, paid little attention to presenteeism and job insecurity, but no attention
was paid to supervisors support as a moderator among the employees from hospitality sector. Here, the survey
research strategy was used and data were collected from conveniently chosen 150 employees working in
hospitality industry. SPSS (26.0) was utilized to analyze the data to identify the impact of job insecurity on
presenteeism. The results divulged that higher the job insecurity lead to have higher presenteeism behaviour. In
addition to that, the results revealed that supervisor’s support significantly moderate the impact of job insecurity
on presenteeism. The study on employee presenteeism pushes the boundaries of organizational behaviour works
while also providing the congregation with useful theoretical and practical applications. Policymakers can
implement more policies aimed at reducing presenteeism and generate a better working environment. This study
can be conducted in a longitudinal fashion to determine the actual level of presenteeism over time in order to gain
a better grasp of hospitality sector workers.
