Abstract:
This paper focuses on the impact of psychological empowerment on task performance and the
mediating role of employees' work engagement in an apparel Industry in Sri Lanka. The methodology of this study
was grounded in a quantitative approach, and the sample consisted of 217 machine operators. Data is composed
of a pre structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert-type scale and the cross-sectional technique was used.
Data was analyzed through the Statistical Package for Social Sciences, and mediators were examined through the
Sobel test. The results exposed significant impacts on psychological empowerment, work engagement, and task
performance. Work engagement partially mediated the association between psychological empowerment and task
performance. This paper improves realistic confirmation in the Sri Lankan context to approve the mediating role
of work engagement between psychological empowerment and task performance.
