Abstract:
Job satisfaction has a direct impact to the employee turnover intention. Based on the results of the
pilot survey, researcher identified that the ABC Bank was suffering from high employee turnover
since 2021 among the Banking Assistant category employees. This issue has highly affected for
the organizational stability and profitability. Also, this has resulted a high cost of production and
time wastage for the company as they have to conduct recruitment process often.
This study has been conducted with the general purpose of examining how the Job Satisfaction of
Banking Assistant category employees at ABC Bank Head Office, Colombo affects their turnover
intentions. It considers the impact of factors like salary, family concerns and career development
opportunities to the turnover intentions of the employees at the selected category.
Mixed methodology was selected to conduct this study, where both qualitative and quantitative
analysis were used. Simple random sampling was used and pre-structured questionnaire was given
to collect primary data while secondary data were collected from research documents, leave
records, documents on exist interviews and the annual report of the Bank.
The research outcome statistically proved that there is a significant relationship between the job
satisfaction and the employee turnover intentions. With regards to the ABC Bank, the researcher
highly recommend implementing policies and initiatives aimed at improving satisfaction levels of
the employees in order to reduce the turnover intentions.
