Abstract:
Hayleys Plantations sector, one of the largest and best performing plantation
business segments, comprises Kelani Valley Plantations P.L.C., Talawakelle Tea
Estates P.L.C. and Horana Plantations P.L.C., contributing significantly to Sri Lanka’s
national income. Covering 26,137 hectares of land, spanning over three distinctive
agro-climate regions with a direct employment base of 21,000+ and a resident
population of over 140,000+ living in the plantations. Over the years, we have
ventured into the cultivation, processing and marketing of tea, rubber, and other
plantation crops, such as coconut, cinnamon and agricultural exports. Growing
remarkably year on year, our diversification journey spans plantation tourism, tea
boutiques, and mini-hydro and solar energy generation.
