Abstract:
Since this field of manufacture is rather new in Sri Lanka, highly technical and highly regulated. It is
important that the employees remain in the organization for a long time since training new employees takes a lot
of valuable time and expenses. It is also important that the motivation of the employees should be maintained at
a favorable level as it affects their performance. In this study, four motivational factors were selected based on
Herzberg’s two factor theory (two hygiene factors and two motivator factors) and their impact on production
employees’ motivation is tested. The four selected factors were: Recognition, Responsibility, Leadership and
Remuneration. This study was conducted so as to get a better understanding on how the motivation of the
production employees could be increased.
Primary data was collected through a questionnaire which was distributed to 82 production employees. Each
measurement indicator has been measured from Five Point Likert scale questionnaire. Final data was analyzed
through SPSS Version 27.0 Multiple regression analysis was used for hypothesis testing.
From the final analysis of the data, it was concluded that recognition (p value is 0.000 which is < 0.05), and
leadership (p value is 0.020 which is < 0.05) had a significant impact on the pharmaceutical production employees’
at a Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company in Sri Lanka, while responsibility (p value is 0.077 which is > 0.05)
and remuneration (p value is 0.106 which is > 0.05) did not have a significant impact on the motivation of the
