Abstract:
The purpose of the research is to investigate whether there is an impact of leadership qualities on
employee job satisfaction and identify the key leadership qualities which affects the job satisfaction and to provide
recommendations to improve leadership qualities for a better job satisfaction. The research is a systematic review
of a collection of good quality journal articles which is selected within the scope of the research to explain the
relationship between leadership qualities and employee job satisfaction. Choy et al. (2015) explains leadership
qualities which determine the success of leaders within the Singapore context that include personality traits and
skills. It has been experienced that the employee job satisfaction gets affected through the personality traits and
qualities of leaders in many circumstances (Taliadorou & Pashiardis 2015). Personality traits such as confidence,
be considerate, be ethical, empathy and open minded recognizes throughout the research. Kiarie et al. (2017)
explains that personality traits of leadership cannot affect the job satisfaction of employees alone where some
other factors mainly leadership skills also may play a major role in determining the job satisfaction of employees.
According to Choy et al. (2015) the categorization of leadership skills can be identified as cognitive skills,
motivational skills and social skills. With the support of past literature, two personality traits of ‘being
considerate’, ‘empathetic’ and social skills of leadership can be identified as key leadership qualities which affect
the relationship of leadership qualities and employee job satisfaction. It is understandable throughout the research
that identified key leadership qualities are extremely into the people-oriented side which shows that leadership
qualities associate more with people, affect the employee job satisfaction directly and mostly.
