This research study aimed to explore the impact of employee job satisfaction on the job performance
of executive employees at XYZ Pvt Ltd. The primary objective was to examine whether there is a
significant relationship between job satisfaction and job performance among executive employees and
to investigate the extent to which job satisfaction influences job performance. The study also intended
to identify the key factors of job satisfaction that contributed to improved job performance. From a
theoretical standpoint, this study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by filling the gap in
the literature regarding the relationship between job satisfaction and job performance in the private
sector, particularly focusing on executive employees in the Sri Lankan context.
The study utilized a quantitative research design, employing a survey approach to collect data from
executive-level personnel in selected departments of XYZ Pvt Ltd. The sample consisted of 40
executives, chosen through probability sampling. Dependent and independent variables were
identified and well-structured questionnaires were administered to gather data on job satisfaction and
job performance. The questionnaire covered various dimensions of job satisfaction, including job
security, recognition, work-life balance, job involvement, and job motivation, the job performance was
measured based on task performance and contextual performance. Using a hypothesis testing method,
the collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
Correlation analysis was employed to examine the relationship between job satisfaction and job
performance, as well as the relationships between the working environment, working relationships,
and job performance, whereas the study validity and reliability were tested accordingly. The findings
of the study revealed a significant positive relationship between job satisfaction and job performance
among executive employees. Specifically, employees who reported higher levels of job satisfaction
also demonstrated higher levels of job performance. This suggested that a positive work environment
that fosters employee job satisfaction can lead to improved job performance.
Practically, the findings highlighted the importance of prioritizing employee job satisfaction in
organizations. The study suggested that organizations should focus on creating a positive work
environment that promotes job satisfaction among executive employees. This can be achieved by
providing job security, recognizing employee contributions, ensuring work-life balance, encouraging
job involvement, and fostering job motivation. These factors contribute to increased job satisfaction,
which in turn positively impacts job performance. The research study has certain limitations that
should be considered. In conclusion, this research study confirmed that employee job satisfaction
significantly influences job performance among executive employees at XYZ Pvt Ltd. The findings underscored the importance of creating a positive work environment that fosters job satisfaction as a
means of improving job performance. The study recommended that organizations prioritize the factors
identified in this research to enhance job satisfaction and subsequently enhance job performance
among executive employees. Future research can build upon these findings by exploring the impact of
job satisfaction on job performance in different industries and organizational contexts. |
