dc.description.abstract This study focuses on the lack of awareness and knowledge on several connected subjects among fundamental farmers, poor and non-post-harvest methods, and processing, which are liable to lead to costs, limiting proper economic benefits reaching the farmers This study of the literature looks at the packaging and shipping methods employed by Sri Lankan farmers to avoid pre- and post-harvest losses. The objective of this study is to identify vegetable loss reduction methods and it emphasizes the need for appropriate packing and transporting techniques for farmers. The report also highlights the difficulties farmers have in executing good post-harvest methods, such as a shortage of expertise, infrastructure, and assets. Generally, the literature study underlines the importance of farmers using proper packaging and transportation processes to decrease postharvest losses and boost earnings. Semi-structured interviews with local farmers in Nuwara Eliya, Bandarawela, Anuradhapura, and Hambanthota were used to gather qualitative data and the sample size is 10. The current study reveals sorting and grading, packing methods, storage, and transportation procedures. Within the scope of this research, common techniques connected to current and conventional packing and transportation procedures were examined that will result in a minimized vegetable loss in the Sri Lankan agriculture industry. en_US
