| dc.description.abstract | The study investigates role of leadership styles on employee performance in the Head Office at Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. Specifically, the study identified the leadership behaviors exhibited by managers in employee performance at Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the specific behaviors that affect the performance of these employees. The data was collected using simple random sampling technique and sample size was 228 all grade employees in the Head office. Only 66 employees responded to the questionnaire. A structured questionnaire was administered to collect the data and that were analyzed using SPSS version 25.0. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Leadership was evaluated by using the three dimensions Autocratic, Democratic and Laissez-Faire. Finding of this study are Democratic leadership style are affecting significant positive relationship between employee performance and Laissez faire leadership style are poor positive relationship between employee performance. But autocratic leadership style and not significant relationship between employee performance. According to the findings, the following recommendations are made. The management of the CPC should encourage managers at various levels and units of the Head office to adopt democratic leadership style by training and re-training the managers on the features and importance of democratic leadership and, significance of laissez-faire leadership technique. | en_US |
