The impact of gender inequality on stereotype, discrimination, and social influence on one's place in
society. This exploratory study examines important research gap in gender inequality in occupation, full
employment and decent job with an equal pay of women empowerment in the context of public service sector
Maldives. Public organizations are not exempt from stereotypes, and uneven engagement of top positions is
serious and pressing challenge in society. A mixed-methods research approach was used to collect the data, and
both qualitative and quantitative data were analysed for this study. The primary and secondary data were analysed
to draw the conclusion. The secondary source of information gathered from scholarly works, journals, and other
official publications. The study analysed 418 respondents’ responses and reviewed government Reports of official
publications. In this study, the data were collected using a stratified random sampling method. Women hold fewer
managerial positions in the public service sector than men do, and workplace imbalance between men and women
has emerged in terms of gender equality. However, women do not participate in society's social, economic, and
political high-level roles within the organization on an equal ground. Even if there are more women with graduate
degrees, there are still significant differences when it comes to gender equality in employment. The analysis
revealed that while there is no wage difference between men and women in the Maldives, there is still a
considerable employment gap in decision-making levels, working careers at the institutional level, and the
advancement of women's empowerment on the professional level. This conceptual paper discusses the gender
equality knowledge gap in the context of full employment, decent work, and equitable pay in the Maldives which
have never studied except for some case studies. The findings of this study will fill a knowledge gap and enhance
insight of future research. |
