Impact of Job Stress on Employee Performance of Non-Executive in Ornamental Fish Export Company

Abstract

In today’s competitive global environment, employee performance is an essential element of a company’s success. Employee performance can be significantly hindered by the high level of stress experienced in the work environment. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of job stress on an employee’s performance among non-executive employees in an ornamental fish export company. The company experienced several negative outcomes from job stress. The researcher has observed that the high turnover rate and low performance are due to the impact of job stress. This company has large-scale exports and little focus on stress management within the company. A comprehensive review of the literature identified three job stress factors and their impacts on job performance. To analyze this situation, the researcher decided to take a sample of 100 nonexecutive employees. This study was conducted under a quantitative design, and primary data was collected through a set of structured questionnaires. A linear regression and a correlation coefficient were used to test the hypothesized relationships. Study findings reveal that organizational and job stress factors are the key job stress factors influencing the company. The findings, which suggest how to deal with stress, can have a big impact on how well employees do their jobs.
