dc.description.abstract The success of every organization depends on its ability to retain its employees. Employee turnover is a huge problem for many organizations in the world. A high level of employee turnover may result in an organization not being able to meet its objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors affecting employee turnover and job satisfaction in the semi-government education institute, to examine the effects of employee turnover on institutions’ performance and recommendations to sound retention and find out whether the job satisfaction and working conditions affected to employee retention with an aim of coming up with recommendations aimed at significantly reducing it and enhancing staff retention at the selected institute. This study adopted a descriptive research design and random sampling technique. Both primary and secondary data were used for this study and the primary data was collected through a well-structured questionnaire that contains open and closed-end questions. The sample size of the study was 25. Since this is a selected semi-government institute the sample size is relatively small for this study. It is a major limitation in this study. The study found that employee has several reasons to leave their careers such as being unable to adopt the culture of the institute, attitudes of the existing staff and the working environment, wages and rewards, recognition, academic allowances, and other allowances. Thus, implementing strategies will increase job satisfaction, motivation, and the productivity and efficiency of individuals and organizations which can reduce employment problems. However, the organization must identify the needs of its staff, which will help organizations, adopt certain strategies to improve employee performance and reduce turnover. en_US
