dc.description.abstract This study aims to investigate the mediating role of Quality of work life between Workplace empowerment and Employee commitment of banking staff in Batticaloa district, Sri Lanka. A quantitative method and Cross-sectional survey design were usedin this study. Primary data were collected through selfadministered questionnaires with banking staff as the respondents from four private hospitals in the district of Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. A statistical analysis employed was multiple regression analysis. Out of 150 questionnaires distributed, eventually 116 questionnaires were received back duly filled in by the bank staff; hence the response rate was 77.3%. The collected data was analyzed through the SPSS (version 22.0). Quality of work life partially mediates the relationship between workplace empowerment and employee commitment. This study provides healthy evidence for bank managers to enhance their employee’s empowerment and quality of work life to retain commitment in their workplace. en_US
