Abstract:
The study explores the effect of human resource practices on organizational excellence in private
hospitals in Anuradhapura. This research is conducted as quantitative survey to examine the effect of human
resource practices such as training and development, recruitment and selection, compensation management, and
performance appraisal. The research is conducted by issuing self- administered questionnaires distributed
among senior management, middle- level management, nurses and subordinate/support staff in five private
hospitals in Anuradhapura. Structured questionnaires were distributed to 220 respondents using a random
sampling method. Data is analyzed using Reliability, Normality, validity, correlation, regression analysis to
determine the effect of Human Resource Practices on Organizational Excellence. Findings show that the HR
Practices of recruitment and selection and performance appraisal significantly contribute to organizational
excellence while training and development and compensation management insignificantly contributes to
organizational excellence according to the private hospitals in Anuradhapura town
