Abstract:
In the Information Technology (IT) industry, millennial employees are a significant part of the
workforce, and employee retention is a critical component of organizational success. This study explores specific
human resource practices that help millennials in the IT sector in Sri Lanka stay in their jobs for longer. Semi structured interviews were conducted with millennial employees from various IT companies using qualitative
research techniques. Research shows that workplace autonomy, open communication, and a positive
organizational culture are highly influential in maintaining the organization. According to the report, HR practices
that prioritize open communication, career advancement, and flexibility increase millennial loyalty to companies.
These observations can help shape strategic HR policies that promote sustained employee engagement and lower
attrition rates.
