Abstract:
The thrust of this article is to scrutinize the causes and drawbacks of absenteeism on employee morale and
worker productivity in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. A descriptive research survey was undertaken and a total of 91
questionnaires out of 110 were collected from enterprises located and operating in Abidjan. This represents an
82.72%. The findings of this paper indicate that in the Ivorian context, absenteeism is a complex situation that
significantly influences employees’ morale and their productivity. Therefore, the adoption of a management by
objective (MBO) approach and a model of motivating employees to optimize output are conducive to
organizational performance.
