dc.description.abstract Sourcing feasible solutions to motivate professional competent IT engineers to retain with an organisation to achieve organizational goals is becoming a major challenge to start ups as well as established entities. The general objective of this research is to carry out a study to identify the factors that influence retention of skilled IT engineers, whilst the specific objectives are to Identify if a relationship exists between the motivational factors such as Rewards, Culture, Career progression, Work life balance and Organisation Direction with Retention. Furthermore, the aim of the study was to identify which motivational factors contributed the most towards retention and suggest recommendations to improve the retention. The researcher to establish the above investigated the relationship between the independent variable motivation and dependent variable retention. The researcher utilized a conceptual framework designed through a literature review and conceptualized an operational framework and through a quantitative data collection and analysis discovered that 73.8% of IT engineers is determined by Motivation Furthermore, several sub variables of motivation create a significant impact to the level of motivation. The researcher using analysis made recommendations to enhance the motivational factors of staff and create a conducive environment to retain their best people. en_US
