The world we live in is getting increasingly complex and consistently changing with mega trends as
well as global crises that are radically moving the context of the work place, work force and the world of work.
Given the fact that, a greater attention being given to global crises due to their impact on the developing future of
work, for an instance, it is manifested that in the last year a substantial number of changes have taken place in the
world’s economy due to the outbreak of COVID-19 with alarming speed which elucidates the global crisis of our
time and the greatest challenge, and as a result businesses have had to keep up with the changes that have plunged
global economy into worst in order to survive. Thus, it is inevitable that each and every business organization
which perform in private, public and NGO sectors that are vastly important for the global economic growth should
draw their deliberation towards the work of HR which could achieve organizational excellence through the
confrontation of evolving future demands and the challenges in competitive workforce. Undoubtedly, it can be
stated that in the foreseeable future, HRM will see principal and significant changes in its practices. Taking into
account the big picture of HRM, this study will significantly analyze how HRM and its potential components such
as its functions, roles and processes should be prepared for the progress of evolving future of work in any crisis
circumstance. Accordingly, the methodology of this research is based on a blend of both black letter and
comparative research methodologies and the findings of the research had been supported by qualitative data which
were obtained through a broad assessment of secondary sources such as journals, articles and relevant websites
and a comparative analysis between Singapore and US which revealed current practices undertaken to prepare
HRM for the future. In conclusion, based on the findings the study has instigated the importance for an
organization to prepare HRM for the future in order to respond to the challenges for HRs in an adequate way that
have arisen due to crises convulsing the world of work. |
