dc.description.abstract The protestant work ethic (PWE) is the belief that working hard is a social equalizer leading to prosperity and it affects the judgment and behaviors of many Americans (Levy, Freitas, Mendoza-Denton, Kugelmass, & Rosenthal, 2010; Okulicz Kozaryn, 2011). Although working long hours could serve as an indicator of commitment and productivity in some organizations (Jayanthi & Vanniarajan, 2012), working long hours is a barrier to work-life balance (Jayanthi & Vanniarajan, 2012). This imbalance of work-life relationships can negatively impact job performance (Naithani, 2010). en_US
