| dc.description.abstract | Even though it has been 4 years since the Covid-pandemic ended, some state universities and private institutions are still offering variety of external courses, including hybrid and fully online options. But the online learning methods are controversial for success in various aspects. Hence, it’s timely need to study & examine the impact of online learning on the development of soft skills in undergraduates at Sri Lankan state universities. The purpose of the research is to examine the relationship between online learning platform, online teaching styles, and the development of critical soft skills including self-evaluation, team work, communication, and leadership. A deductive approach was used to obtain data from respondents by supplying structures questionnaire & correlation and regression analysis were used to examine the data. Findings demonstrate that although online learning tends to make theoretical knowledge more accessible, it poses significant barriers to the development of soft skills. According to the study, the development of soft skills and online learning platforms are positively correlated, highlighting that skill enhancement can be implemented by well-structured digital environments. However, online teaching approaches have a moderate effect, suggesting that interactive teaching strategies and instructor involvement are crucial for bridging the gap between practical skill application and theoretical learning aspects. Additionally, study reveals that the relationship between online learning and the development of soft skills is not significantly moderate by gender. According to these findings, HR professionals should use blended learning strategies that incorporate experiential learning methods to make sure that graduates have the requisite interpersonal skills in addition to technical knowledge when they enter to the workforce. Universities should make investment in virtual teamwork opportunities, interactive learning resources, and organized soft skills training to better prepare students for challenges in the workplace | en_US |
